The following caves are open from June 1 to September 1.
Some caves are gated to protect bats. Click to see a LIST of known Vermont bat hibernacula.

Plymouth Caves, Plymouth

Brandon Silver Mines, The presence of Indiana bats has the Nature Conservancy (the owners) edgy. Park well away from the road access when going out to the Silver Mines. The owner has asked that people be sure not to block the road.
 
Closed Caves PDF Print E-mail

Aeolus Bat Cave is currently closed until a proper management plan can be implemented. The VCA is doing its best to ensure that the cave will be reopened to cavers. The VCA is asking cavers to be responsible and abide by the closure. As with any negotiation process, irresponsible acts can seriously jeopardize the situation and make it more difficult to regain access.

Nickwackett & Chaffee Mountain Caves, Chittenden. These caves are now closed for five years to study the bat population. A summer management plan is being developed to ensure future caving at these excellent caves. Nickwackett cave was gated in the summer of 2004.
